John Benfer is an artist who resides in the Daintree Rainforest, north of the Daintree River. He studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Fine Art at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University which he completed in 2002. During this time he explored a diversity of art mediums eventually focusing on his major area of Printmaking/ Drawing, with a particular affinity towards etching and lithography. More recently he has also continued developing his enthusiastic interest into photography, as well as engaging a keen exploration into ceramics, using the studio at DAB Arts in Mossman.

Artistically he has been deeply inspired by nature in all it’s diversity; aesthetically and conceptually. He undertakes frequent excursions into wild places, mostly in north Queensland, and his art embodies his impressions, explorations and the love he has for these environments.
